CATalyst can be used on a Mac computer provided it meets the following requirements:

  • The Mac must have an Intel processor. Apple released their own processor called the M1 in Nov. 2020, and is not compatible with CATalyst. Check your documentation or Apple's website to see if your Mac has an Intel or M1 processor.

  • Must use the Bootcamp utility and install Windows 10. Currently, Apple has not released information about compatibility between Bootcamp and Windows 11 so we do not recommend installing Windows 11 at this time.

Programs like Parallels and VMWare Fusion create a virtual Windows environment on your Mac. We do not recommend using these programs as a solution since they run inside the Mac OS. This setup can cause issues with the amount of memory allocated to run Windows, Mac OS and CATalyst at the same time. When you use Boot Camp to run Windows all of the systems resources are available to Windows exclusively.

  • The Mac must also meet the system requirements for CATalyst. If not, then you may experience errors, CATalyst running slowly, or computer crashes.
